Following legislation changes, our client designed a new set of processes and systems to manage claims, grants and services in England. This involved combining several clients’ data into a single definitive “golden record” for all the data needed to support policy outcomes and payments. This combined record would consist of personal, land, entitlement and financial data, allowing the client to not only manage their claims efficiently and accurately, but to comply with their reporting and legislative obligations. To deliver master data management we worked with the client to:
-
Profile the data from multiple source systems
-
Agree data ownership and stewardship
-
Establish data quality standards, metrics and thresholds
-
Select supporting technology
-
Agree work packages for resolving duplicate data
-
Produced data models and data dictionaries
-
Migrate the data into the new source system
-
Develop ongoing data quality reports, risk and issue logs and root cause analysis
-
Take corrective actions where necessary
-
Introduce strategic and tactical data governance processes and planning
Over 3 million records – many of them duplicated multiple times – were reduced into one master data set, and sustainable processes (which involved skills transfer and training) were put in place to ensure that regular monitoring and corrective action could be taken to maintain quality, once our assignment had been completed.
